The use of ERP Software in an organization

October 30, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Enterprise Resource Planning or ERP is a high end business application which will streamline and integrate operations, processes and information flows as well as integrate all departments of an organization. The system can serve all the different needs of the different departments and the organization will have one unified system where all data is shared.

ERP will replace the different computer systems customized to serve the purpose of that particular department only and replace it with one integrated system which will serve the needs of human resource, warehousing as well as the finance department. This runs off a single data base enabling the various departments to share information and communicate with each other.

For example if an order is placed, it will be updated on the finance system which will generate the invoice while at the same time updating the operations department which will deliver the goods. The entire organization will know at what stage the order is being processed at any given time.

Installing the software can be costly, but the long term benefit will far outweigh the cost. For the efficient functioning of the system the staff needs to be trained on correctly using it to get the maximum benefit from it.

Nowadays, it is hard to find a desktop or even laptop without USB ports. In fact, they all make use of serial USB for data transfer. Moreover, these cables support all operating systems. That is data transfer in a serial bus from computer to its periphery or vice versa is independent of operating system installed. I came across couple of few articles that showed how serial USB plays an important role in the overall data transfer process.

If you are thinking of transferring your data at high speed, then you may choose USB version 2.0. In fact, an earlier version of USB 1.1 featured a nominal speed of 12 Mb/sec. However, its later version that is USB 2.0 exceeded the speed by nearly 30 times. This means that using USB 2.0, now you can transfer data at a whooping speed of 480 Mb/sec. In fact, fast speed is requisite for transferring heavy files. In addition, fast speed favors transferring of video files. Further, with high speed of data connectivity, you can enhance your productivity rates. USB sata too helps in quick transfer of files.

Apart from USB, serial card also plays an important role. If you have a USB 2.0 connecting port, then you need to have a compatible card that supports it. In fact, you can refer to specification before buying them. Besides, it will be ideal if you choose same shop for shopping the card and bus. If you are a computer geek and already know these stuffs, then it is just a piece of cake for you.
